BIOGRAPHY

A World Championship medalist at both the junior and senior levels, Alyson Charles has been one of Canada’s most consistent female skaters since breaking onto the international scene in 2018.

Charles represented Canada at three World Junior Championships from 2016 to 2018, where she was part of the country’s first ever gold medal in the women’s relay alongside current national team skaters Courtney Sarault, Danaé Blais and Claudia Gagnon.

A native of Montreal, Charles made her World Cup debut during the 2018-2019 season, winning a pair of bronze medals in the 500m at her first ever event in Calgary. She finished her first season with seven medals and has gone on to capture an impressive 15 medals in only three years on the international circuit, including three as a member of the mixed gender relay team.

In 2019, Charles finished fifth overall at the inaugural Four Continents Championships in her hometown of Montreal, winning silver in the 500m. She also appeared in her first World Championships, helping the women’s relay team earn bronze.

A biracial athlete of Haitian descent, she has been both an inspiration and advocate for representation and diversity in sport.
