Nicolas Perreault

BIOGRAPHY

Originating from a family with rich ties to the sport of speed skating, Nicolas Perreault earned a spot on the short track National Team during the 2021-2022 season.

The nomination to the National Team came after Perreault’s stellar performance at the 2021 Canadian Short Track Championships, where he surprised many with a fifth overall finish in the standings. The Sherbrooke native has previously represented Canada at the ISU World Junior Championships in both 2019 and 2020, earning a career-best fifth-place result in the 1500m during his international debut at the junior level.

Perreault’s father, Sylvain, was a member of the long track National Team from 1980 to 1985, while his aunts Maryse and Annie were both important members of Canada’s short track program. Maryse was crowned world champion in 1982 and won a over twenty combined World Championship medals over her career, while Annie is a two-time Olympian, having won two golds and one bronze medal in Albertville 1992 and Nagano 1998. Perreault is eager to follow in the footsteps of his family members and carry on the legacy of a successful career in speed skating.
