Canada’s speed skating Olympians bringing their Medals on Tour this April

Initiative presented by Intact Insurance will send Canadian speed skating medalists on a six-stop cross-country tour

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Speed Skating Canada and longstanding sponsor Intact Insurance are partnering on a cross-country tour that will see World Cup, World Championship and Olympic Games medalists visit six communities across Canada this spring to showcase the sport, celebrate the recent successes of speed skaters, and inspire the next generation of athletes.

The second edition of Medals on Tour will run from April 9-24, 2026, and features stops in six different provinces and territories. Members of each community will have the opportunity to interact with Canadian national team athletes and take part in both on-ice and off-ice activities, including public skating, school visits, and events with local charities and community groups.

“Intact Insurance is proud to support Medals on Tour, a unique opportunity for Canadians from different communities to connect and engage with some of Speed Skating Canada’s most talented athletes. It is a chance to learn more about speed skating and be inspired by the journey of our Olympians.”

Imen Zitouni, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer, Intact Financial Corporation

This year’s six tour stops were jointly selected by Speed Skating Canada and Intact Insurance, and include three recent winners of the Intact Insurance Club Excellence Award (Iqaluit, Nvt., Brandon, Man. and Digby, N.S.), as well as a community chosen through a social media contest (Victoria, B.C.).

Eleven Canadian national team athletes are confirmed to participate in the tour, including Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic medalists Félix Roussel (Sherbrooke, Que.), Courtney Sarault (Moncton, N.B.), Ivanie Blondin (Ottawa, Ont.), Steven Dubois (Lachenaie, Que.), Kim Boutin (Sherbrooke, Que.), Valérie Maltais (La Baie, Que.) and Isabelle Weidemann (Ottawa, Ont.).

Two Medals on Tour participants, Dubois and Maltais, also served as Team Canada’s Closing Ceremony flag bearers.

Outside of the Olympics, the short track Ice Maples team won 31 World Tour medals and claimed all three ISU Crystal Globes this fall, while Canadian long track athletes reached the World Cup podium 18 times across five events from November to January.

“Medals on Tour is a great opportunity for our Olympians to give back to the community and inspire the next generation of Canadians to achieve their dreams on and off the ice. We are happy to be working alongside our longstanding partner Intact Insurance on this initiative and appreciate their dedication to showcasing the power of sport in six lucky communities next month.”
