Canada’s Ted-Jan Bloemen won bronze in the men’s 10,000m at the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen on Sunday, elevating his country’s weekend medal total to six.

Ottawa’s Ivanie Blondin sprinted to a silver medal in the women’s Mass Start at the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen on Saturday, winning Canada’s sixth medal of the competition.

After four seasons of competing together, the women’s Team Pursuit squad of Isabelle Weidemann, Ivanie Blondin and Valérie Maltais finally captured their elusive World Championship title on Friday in Heereveen, albeit in bittersweet fashion.

It was a historic double podium for Canada in the women’s Mass Start on Sunday, as teammates Valérie Maltais and Ivanie Blondin won silver and bronze, respectively, to finish off the World Cup season in Poland. It marked the first time in World Cup history that Canada had two skaters on the podium in the distance.

Canadian speed skaters Ivanie Blondin, Brooklyn McDougall and Carolina Hiller raced to their third World Cup silver medal of the season in the Team Sprint on Saturday in Poland.
