The Canada Games Council has named Québec city as the official Host of the 2027 Canada Winter Games, marking a return to the birthplace of the Canada Games 60 years after the inaugural event held in 1967.

The Canada Games Council announced that short track speed skating volunteer Dinding Liu has been awarded the Paul Flaherty Volunteer Award at the end of week one of the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games.

It was an eventful final day of short track racing at the 2023 Canada Winter Games, one that saw Ontario and Quebec capture 3000m relay gold.

Quebec had five skaters reach the 1000m short track podium at the 2023 Canada Winter Games on Friday, brining home two gold, two silver and one bronze medal on the second last day of competition.

Canada’s top long track speed skaters battled snowy conditions at the Emera Oval in Halifax on Friday to close out the 2023 Canada Winter Games, which saw gold medals handed out to Sofia Bieber (MB), Jalen Doan (AB) and Luca Veeman (SK).

Alberta’s Isabelle Champagne won her second gold medal of the 2023 Canada Winter Games, bringing home gold in the women’s 3000m on Thursday in Halifax. Fellow Albertan Daniel Hall was also victorious in the men’s 5000m, while Quebec captured the men’s Team Pursuit title.

Quebec and Ontario were dominant on the third day of 2023 Canada Winter Games short track competition, with Émanuelle Leclerc (QC) and Adam Law (ON) brining home gold in their respective 500m finals.
