About the International Skating Union
The International Skating Union (ISU), founded in 1892, is the oldest governing international winter sport federation and the exclusive international sport federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) administering the sports of Figure Skating, Synchronized Skating, Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating worldwide. The Olympic Oval is a legacy facility of the 1988 Olympic Games. It is a place where Olympic dreams come true and athletes are put in a position to achieve their personal best. An important and integral part of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology; the Oval is a speed-skating facility, a research facility for UCalgary kinesiology scholars, a training facility for varsity athletes and a public facility to serve the University community.

About the CEntre de glace intact assurance
Officially opened in August 2021, the Centre de glaces Intact Assurance features the only indoor ice oval in Eastern Canada. This state-of-the-art venue – which is home to one of Canada’s long track speed skating training centres – welcomed over 350,000 visitors in its first year of operations and successfully hosted the first-ever joint Canadian Speed Skating Championships in October 2022 and the ISU Four Continents Speed Skating Championships in December 2022.
