Call for Nominations: High Performance Committees & Marketing Working Group

Recruiting external stakeholders to provide feedback and support to help guide the decisions of our organization 

OTTAWA, ON - Speed Skating Canada is currently recruiting external stakeholders for three advisory groups: High Performance Committee - Long Track, High Performance Committee - Short Track and the newly formed Marketing Working Group.

We regularly engages external stakeholders in Committees and Working Groups to advise our staff on issues related to their areas of expertise. The feedback and support provided by these groups are invaluable in guiding the decisions of our organization.

We are currently recruiting for three such advisory groups; more information about each is available below. Please consider sharing this information within your networks and identifying members of your community whose skills and expertise would be valuable contributions to Speed Skating Canada’s work.

High Performance Committee - Long Track

One position is open on SSC’s High Performance Committee - Long Track, which has as a mandate to advise SSC high performance staff in the selection processes of the long track team(s). Please read the Terms of Reference for more information.

Potential Committee members will be evaluated based on a skills matrix, thus identifying specific skills to enhance the current committee members. Specific skills and/or attributes for this open position for HPC-LT have been identified as but are not limited to:

Sport Experience

  • An Olympian in Speed Skating or from another sport
  • An official (from speed skating but not currently active)
  • An official from another sport
  • A coach (from speed skating but not currently active)
  • A coach from another sport

Education and/or Professional Experience

  • Communications
  • Analytical experience (Financial sector (ie CPA, Actuarial Science)
  • Marketing
  • Worked or volunteered in the field of sport ethics
  • Experience in sport administration and/or management

High Performance Committee - Short Track

One position is open on SSC’s High Performance Committee - Short Track, which has as a mandate to advise SSC high performance staff in the selection processes of the short track team(s). Please read the Terms of Reference for more information.

Sport Experience

  • A former Olympian or National Team Member in Short Track Speed Skating
  • A former Olympian or National Team Member from another sport
  • A coach (from speed skating but not currently active)
  • A coach from another sport

Education and/or Professional Experience

  • Research experience
  • Communications and/or Change Management
  • Analytical experience (Financial sector (ie CPA, Actuarial Science)
  • Marketing
  • Worked or volunteered in the field of sport ethics
  • Experience in sport administration and/or management

Marketing Working Group

SSC is implementing a Marketing Working Group to provide staff with guidance, advice and feedback on the scope, objectives, execution and implementation of national marketing projects in the lead up to Beijing 2022. Examples of such initiatives include PTSO brand and website extensions, national marketing and recruitment campaigns. Please read the Working Group Overview for more information. 

Potential Working Group members will be evaluated based on their speed skating and marketing expertise and ability to contribute to SSC’s objectives. Up to six members will be recruited.
