Day two of the Olympic Oval Finale wraps up

Speed skaters set more personal bests times as day two of the Olympic Oval Finale wrapped up.

Japan’s Minatsu Onodera placed first in the women’s 3,000-metre race with a time of seven minutes and 31.22 seconds. Second place went to Alberta’s Shannon Sibold and third to Karin Maarse of The Netherlands.

In the men’s 10,000 metre race, Odd Borgersen of Norway took first place, racing to a personal best time of 13.15.67. Kazhakstan’s Dmitry Babenko placed second with 13:35.73 and Sicco Janmaat from The Netherlands placed third in 13:37.52.

More than 250 athletes from 14 different countries are taking part in the 15th annual Olympic Oval Finale. A $10,000 prize purse is posted for any skaters setting a Senior World Record at this event. Racing continues at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
