New SSC-branded clothing and accessories now available online; World Tour, Ice Maples and William Dandjinou collections also on sale
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – A familiar name in speed skating equipment has been tasked with modernizing Speed Skating Canada’s merchandising program, as Nagano Skate has agreed to an exciting multi-year partnership that will increase the presence of the sport’s iconically Canadian brand in arenas and skating ovals across the country.
The partnership will see Nagano Skate run Speed Skating Canada’s e-commerce platform (shop.speedskating.ca), as well as operate on-site kiosks at select national and international competitions, giving athletes and fans from coast-to-coast the opportunity to proudly display their love for the sport.
With the first line of items launched just last week, the speed skating community now has access to a new assortment of Speed Skating Canada clothing and accessories, including hoodies, sweaters, shirts, shorts, hats and toques. The Lifestyle Collection features trendy designs, while items in the Training Collection are made of moisture-wicking fabrics perfect for the most demanding workouts. Additional items and collections will be developed throughout the partnership, bringing fresh, new styles to the community on a regular basis.
Joe Morissette, Chief Executive Officer, Speed Skating Canada“We’re really excited about this expanded partnership with Nagano Skate. Their company is deeply rooted in the speed skating community, and we know this expertise will deliver a fun and modern merchandise program that resonates with speed skaters of all ages. We look forward to seeing our brand come to life through their designs, which we can’t wait to see at rinks across the country in the years to come.”
In addition to Speed Skating Canada branded items, Nagano Skate will also develop limited-edition collections for Canadian Youth Championship events, as well as for International Skating Union events hosted in Canada. The company sold ISU Short Track World Tour branded clothing in Montreal this past weekend, with Ice Maples pieces proving to be quite popular with fans.
The Quebec-based retailer also launched a collection in collaboration with Canadian short track rising star William Dandjinou that features a stylized version of his signature wings celebration on hats, shirts and skin suits.
Éric Bédard, Academy and Team Apparel Director, Nagano Skate“Nagano Skate is proud to partner with Speed Skating Canada on this first collection, which marks the start of a promising, long-term collaboration. What unites us are our values, the development of the sport and our desire to remain accessible. Thanks to our expertise and production capabilities in our new factory, we hope that future generations will associate themselves with our national teams through diverse and rallying merchandise designs.”
A world-leader in speed skating equipment, Nagano Skate become an official supplier to Canada’s national speed skating programs this past April, receiving exclusive rights to provide athletes with protective gloves and glove tips, while also supplying equipment technicians at the National Training Centres in Montreal, Quebec City and Calgary with the sharpening tools and blade maintenance equipment they require to ensure skaters can perform to the best of their abilities on the ice.
