Canada Names Short Track Team for World Cups, Four Continents Championships

Six skaters will make their international debut this fall

MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Speed Skating Canada announces today the provisional composition of its short track teams for this season’s ISU World Cups and ISU Four Continents Short Track Championships.

Members of the World Cup team will be made available for media interviews during a press conference at 11:15am on October 25 to kick off the season’s first World Cup stop in Montreal, scheduled for October 28-30 at the Maurice Richard Arena. The press conference will be hosted by the legendary Charles Hamelin. Media interested in joining us for this press conference are asked to confirm their attendance with Alain Brouillette.

ISU World Cup Short Track 1-4

Twelve skaters have been provisionally selected to represent Canada at the first four ISU World Cup Short Track events of the season. The team will kick off the campaign in Montreal (October 28-30), before travelling to Salt Lake City, USA (November 4-6) and Almaty, Kazakhstan (December 9-11, December 16-18).

ISU Four Continents Short Track Championships

Ten skaters have been provisionally selected to represent Canada at the ISU Four Continent Speed Skating Championships, which will take place in Salt Lake City from November 11-13, 2022.

The team nominations were made in accordance with relevant High Performance Bulletins following the 2022 Canadian Short Track Championships presented by Intact Insurance, which were hosted this past weekend in Quebec City. It is important to note that the composition of these teams could potentially change should an appeal be submitted and accepted. Teams will not be made official until the appeal period has passed and a decision on those appeals – should any be received – has been made.

Media Accreditation

All members of the media interested in covering the ISU World Cup Short Track in Montreal need to apply for accreditation using the ISU Online Media Accreditation System (OMAS). The deadline to submit an application for on-site accreditation is October 20, 2022.
