Richard MacLennan retires from long track speed skating

Calgary, July 10, 2018 – Richard MacLennan of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, has decided to retire from long track speed skating after competing for Canada internationally from 2009 to 2016 as part of the National Program.

Montreal, June 29, 2018 – Short track speed skater William Preudhomme from Toronto has announced his retirement.

Laval, June 27, 2018 – The short track speed skating national team, including olympic medalists Kim Boutin, Samuel Girard and Charles Hamelin, are inviting Laval citizens to come and see them in action and to meet them on Saturday, July 7, at Place Bell in Laval (1950, Claude-Gagné Street, H7N 5H9) from 10 am to 1 pm.
 
Members of the men's and women's national teams will show what they can do on Place Bell's Olympic-size rink during a training session that will be open to the public from 10 am to noon.
 

Olympic silver medalist Shannon Rempel retires from speed skating

Winnipeg, June 26, 2018 – Two-time Olympian Shannon Rempel from Winnipeg, MB, has decided to move on from speed skating after competing for Canada internationally for the past 18 years and winning a silver medal at the 2006 Olympic Games.

Short track speed skater Joanie Gervais from Saguenay announces her retirement

Montreal, June 21, 2018 – Short track speed skater Joanie Gervais, from Saguenay (Jonquière borough), QC, has officially announced her retirement.
 
Joanie Gervais, age 23, took part in the ISU World Junior Championships in February of 2013 in Warsaw, Poland, and earned a silver medal the following year at the same competition held in Erzurum, Turkey, alongside Audrey Phaneuf, Namasthée Harris-Gauthier and three-time Olympic medalist at the 2018 Games, Kim Boutin.
 

2018 Long Track Olympian Josie Morrison retires from speed skating

Calgary, June 19, 2018 – 2018 Olympian and National Long Track Speed Skating Team member Josie (Spence) Morrison of Kamloops, B.C., announced her retirement from competitive speed skating.

Morrison, age 24, placed fourth as a member of Canada's team pursuit squad and 21st in the 1500m at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games held in PyeongChang.

Last fall, Morrison stepped on the podium for the first time at the international level, winning a bronze at the World Cup in Heerenveen, in the Netherlands, in the women’s team pursuit.
