Sport Canada’s Community Sport for All Grant to help support revisions to Long-Term Development Framework, Learn to Skate and Speed Skate programs

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – Speed Skating Canada is a proud recipient of Sport Canada’s 2023/2024 Community Sport for All Grant. The funds received are to support the revisions to SSC’s Long-Term Development (LTD) framework, as well as programming to champion the development of grassroots skaters through revising and rebranding The Cutting Edge Program (Learn to Skate/Learn to Speed Skate).

The primary objective of the Community Sport for All Grant is to eliminate obstacles, fostering a surge in sports participation rates, especially among underrepresented communities such as Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+, low-income, and newcomer populations. To bolster efforts in achieving this overarching goal, Speed Skating Canada is delighted to extend financial assistance to select clubs committed to implementing the Long-Term Development framework and/or new Learn to Skate/Learn to Speed Skating programs at the beginning for the 2024-25 season.

PTSOs and clubs can apply for grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 to support the implementation of these programs. There are three (3) different types of grants available and recipients must commit to the requirements and deliverables of their respective grant so that SSC can provide a detailed report back to Sport Canada in December 2024.
